The Bible DOES NOT promote Slavery
"The Bible denounces slavery as sin. The New Testament goes so far as to put slave traders in the same category as murderers, adulterers, perverts, and liars (1 Timothy 1:10).
Slavery within the Old Testament context was sanctioned due to economic realities rather than racial or sexual prejudices. Because bankruptcy laws did not exist, people would voluntarily sell themselves into slavery. A craftsmen could thus use his skills in servitude to discharge a debt. Even a convicted thief could make restitution by serving as a slave (Exodus 22:3).
The liberating biblical truth is that ALL people are created by God with innate equality. (Genesis 1:27; Acts 17:26-28; Galatians 3:28)." - Hank Hanegraaff
Galatians 3:28 - "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Genesis 1:27 - "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Acts 17:26-28 - "and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, they they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'"
1 Timothy 1:8-11 - "But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, or murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and for slave traders and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which which I have been entrusted."
Exodus 22:3 - "but if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. He shall surely make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft."

Leviticus 25:44-46 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
ReplyDelete44 Both thy bondmen and thy bondmaids, whom thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen who are round about you. From them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
45 Moreover of the children of the strangers who sojourn among you, from them shall ye buy and from their families who are with you, whom they begot in your land; and they shall be your possession.
46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession. THEY SHALL BE YOUR BONDMEN FOREVER. But over your brethren, the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigor.
